Did you know that the Weinberg-Gymnasium Kleinmachnow boasts a history spanning over 75 years? Right here before us stands a testament to that rich past. The main building a registered historical monument is a beautiful example of architecture from the 1930s. Its construction began on April 9 1937. Classes commenced on September 30 1938.
The Weinberg-Gymnasium Kleinmachnow isn’t just any school. It’s a public school with a strong focus on mathematics natural sciences and technology. The school’s layout is unique. Four floors known as Ebenen are connected by stairs and elevators. The ground floor Ebene 0 has a main entrance and five smaller ones. You’ll find a digital timetable and seating in the foyer. Foreign language classrooms are on the right while the caretaker’s office is situated nearby. The chemistry department is also located on this floor within the science wing. To the left of the foyer lies the large assembly hall the Aula and the sports hall complete with changing rooms.
Moving to the first floor Ebene 1 you’ll find classrooms for German history art and physics. The secretary’s office and the teachers’ room are also located here. On Ebene 2 the second floor classrooms dedicated to music geography mathematics biology and computer labs can be found. Finally in the attic the third floor Ebene 3 houses a smaller assembly hall in an extension to the main building.
The Weinberg-Gymnasium Kleinmachnow is a vibrant hub of activity. Students participate in numerous competitions. These include prestigious events like the Physics Olympiad the Mathematics Olympiad and the European Science Olympiad. The school also hosts regular events. These range from a Day of Science where scientists and parents give lectures to an annual Christmas concert showcasing the talents of students from grades 6 to 12.
Student exchange programs further enrich the school’s international outlook. Since 2001 there has been an exchange program with the German School in Budapest. Another exchange program with a school in Paris existed in 2013.
The school offers a variety of extracurricular activities. There are clubs focused on science arts and performance. The school’s theater group Theater am Weinberg has presented performances both locally and beyond. It even participated in the 2009 national school theater festival in Hamburg. In 2007 the school added an Irish folk band reflecting the diverse range of talents amongst the students.
