Opened in 1969, Wayne County Community College District has served the community for over 50 years. Wayne County Community College Northwest Campus stands as a testament to accessible education. Originally, WCCCD operated without a dedicated building. Classes were held in borrowed spaces from local schools across Wayne County. Imagine the logistical puzzle of coordinating classes across numerous locations. The Northwest Campus initially resided on Greenfield Road, near Dearborn. In 2008, it transitioned to its current location on West Outer Drive. This new home is the former site of Mercy College of Detroit.
