Built in 1827, Wat Khong Kha whispers tales of a time long past. The temple’s origins are shrouded in mystery. No one knows for sure who built this sanctuary. Wat Khong Kha patiently waits to share its secrets with those who seek them. Originally, people called it Wat Khoak, meaning “temple on the hill”. The name later changed to Wat Khong Kha due to its location near Khlong Lat and Khlong Bang Yai. Inside the temple walls sits a Buddhist sanctuary. This sanctuary houses the principle Buddha image, Luang Po Sila Daeng(Laeng). It is believed to have been created during the Ayutthaya reign. Locals believe that holy water blessed by the monks can ward off bad luck and bring good fortune. The temple grounds are also home to many other sacred items. A large Luang Poo Tuad statue was installed on December 5, 2010, the same day as the new Buddhist sanctuary. You can also find images of Phra Sungajayana, Phra Siwalee, Guan Yin Goddess, King Rama V, Tra Kian, and Wes Suwan. Near the temple, a small canal provides a place for visitors to feed and release fish. This offers another way to make merit and connect with the spiritual side of Thai culture.
