Tranquility whispers among the trees. This is Wat Chaturamit Pradittharam. A haven of peace on the Thonburi side of the river. It stands as a testament to faith and perseverance. Wat Chaturamit Pradittharam was built around 1828. This was during the reign of King Rama II. A hermit named Mr Chan donated land for its construction. This explains the temple’s original name Wat Chan. The name Wat Chaturamit Pradittharam came later in 1958. A formal submission to the Ministry resulted in the name change.

Wat Chaturamit Pradittharam boasts unique architectural features. A new hall features a second projecting portico. This divides the two sides where Buddha images reside. There is also a striking white Buddha temple. It’s reminiscent of Angkor Wat. This laterite structure stands near Khlong Bang Phrom in the Taling Chan area.

The temple’s surroundings are alive with life. The canal basin and surrounding area form a tranquil setting. Homes and gardens surround the temple on all sides. Wat Chaturamit Pradittharam is a place of serenity. It’s also a center of community life. A school sits nearby. It provides education to the children of the area.

The temple grounds hold many stories. The Grandfather and Grand Hall are architectural highlights. So is the unique White Temple. The crematorium stands as a solemn reminder of life’s cycle. The provost’s hall is a key administrative center. It is led by Mr Anusorn.

Wat Chaturamit Pradittharam isn’t just a temple. It’s a living piece of Bangkok’s history. Its quiet presence stands in contrast to the city’s vibrant energy. Take a moment to appreciate its beauty. Reflect on the rich history it holds. Wat Chaturamit Pradittharam is a treasure to discover. It’s a place that will linger in your memory.
