Opened in 2003, Earl Warren High School stands as a testament to its namesake, Chief Justice Earl Warren. The Warren family even donated his robe from the Brown v. Board of Education case. It’s proudly displayed in the school’s main office. Earl Warren High School is part of the Northside Independent School District. It’s one of many schools in the district named after Supreme Court Justices. The school boasts a “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency. It even received a distinction for its academic growth. In 2006, the Academic Decathlon team reached the state competition for the first time. The school also houses the Construction Careers Academy, a magnet school focused on construction skills. In November 2005, a threatening message on MySpace disrupted the school day. Only about 400 of the 3,000 students attended. Four students faced felony charges for the online threat. The Warren Warriors have a strong athletic presence. Both baseball and football teams reached the playoffs in 2006. In 2008, the football team secured their first district championship. The boys’ soccer team has an impressive record. They’ve made it to the playoffs five years in a row. They even reached the regional tournament twice. Earl Warren High School has produced notable alumni. These include professional athletes like Tony Crocker, Dennis Houston, and Taurean Prince.
