What stories does this building whisper? We are standing before Waltrip High School. Established in 1959, it has witnessed generations come and go, their dreams painted on its hallways. Waltrip High School, a cornerstone of the Houston Independent School District, has always served its surrounding neighborhoods. These include Garden Oaks, Timbergrove Manor, Shepherd Forest, and even a touch of the Heights. Waltrip High School even houses the unique Research and Technology magnet program, attracting students with a passion for innovation. But did you know that Waltrip High School boasts a rather unusual claim to fame? It’s the alma mater of none other than The Undertaker, the iconic WWE wrestler! Imagine a young Mark Calaway, a far cry from the intimidating Undertaker persona, walking these very halls. The school spirit here, however, extends far beyond wrestling. It’s woven into the fabric of the school, a sentiment beautifully captured in the school song, “Our Waltrip High”. Written by alumni Jon Enloe, with music by Joe Stuessy, both from the Class of 1961, the song echoes the pride and camaraderie that define Waltrip.
