The new Walter-Pahl-Brücke, designed by Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner, was a feat of engineering, requiring a long and complex construction process. The main structure was painstakingly assembled off-site before being moved into its final position over a period of two phases, using a technique called longitudinal launching. This technique allowed for a long span with minimal disruption to traffic and the nearby railway line.
