The Vorbergsh\u00fcgel itself reaches almost 100 meters. The neighboring M\u00fchlenberg is almost 98 meters high. These hills offer the highest points in the city. Vorbergs H\u00fcgel is part of the Altenberger R\u00fccken. This ridge stretches northwest. The ridge is separated by the city boundary. The southeastern section of the ridge is called Nienberger H\u00f6hen. It is named after the nearby district of Nienberge.

The NABU reports that 21 breeding bird species on the Red List live here. There are also three dragonfly species. Two amphibian and two grasshopper species are present as well.
In the 1990s, NABU championed Vorbergs H\u00fcgel’s protection. Concerns about the condition of the hedges led to action. In 2004, measures improved the area’s quality. This enhanced its appeal as a recreational area.
