Known for its blend of Southern charm, Vinings welcomes you. This unincorporated community in Cobb County offers a unique story. Vinings sits along the Chattahoochee River, near Buckhead. Once known as Crossroads, it later became Paces around 1830. Hardy Pace operated a ferry here. It shuttled people between Atlanta, Buckhead, and Smyrna.

In the 1840s, the Western and Atlantic Railroad arrived. Vinings became a construction station. William H. Vining oversaw the railroad bridge construction. Supplies were sent to “Vining’s station”. The area adopted the Vinings name. Even today, the railroad remains state-owned and leased to CSX.

During the Civil War in 1864, the Union Army occupied Vinings. Sherman’s Atlanta Campaign left its mark. Pace’s home, used as a Union hospital, was destroyed. After the war, Vinings began to recover. Governor Brown leased the railroad to bring passengers. They came to enjoy the springs and pavilions. These were built to offer respite from Atlanta’s reconstruction. Vinings was officially recognized in 1904.

The Vinings Historic Preservation Society works to preserve the town’s history. They keep the spirit of Vinings alive.

Vinings offers a mix of attractions. Historic sites like the Pace House stand alongside modern structures. The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre adds to the cultural scene. The Chattahoochee River enhances Vinings’ natural beauty. Outdoor festivals, parades, and farmers markets thrive here.

Shopping is a highlight in Vinings. Vinings Jubilee, a beautiful outdoor shopping center, sits in the heart of the city. It offers a variety of ways to explore and enjoy this unique town.

Vinings offers mild weather. The average temperature is 65 degrees. The area receives ample rainfall. This helps the lush foliage and air quality.
