Did the Tacchi family ever imagine their name would grace a luxurious hotel? Today, Villa Tacchi stands as a testament to their legacy. The story of Villa Tacchi begins long before it became a four-star hotel. In the late 17th century, the wealthy Guzzo Beretta family built this grand villa on their vast 400-hectare estate. Imagine the bustling activity as the villa took shape, a symbol of their prosperity. In 1810, Giovanbattista Muttoni, heir to the estate, sold the property, including the villa and the Chapel of Santa Croce, to Antonio Cabianca, a nobleman from Vicenza. The villa then passed through several hands until 1878. Then the noble De Tacchi family from Rovereto acquired it. Drawn by its convenient location near Vicenza and Padua, they made Villa Tacchi their residence. The villa continued to change hands over the years. In the 1990s, it underwent significant restoration. This included structural reinforcement, roof repairs, and waterproofing. The renovations preserved the villa’s architectural and cultural significance while modernizing its facilities. The former rustic outbuildings, once used for storing agricultural products and sheltering animals, were transformed into the elegant La Tavernetta restaurant and the Stemmi room. The ground floor boasts stunning Venetian mosaic floors, meticulously crafted by local artisans using techniques and materials dating back to 16th-century Padua. Today, Villa Tacchi is a luxurious four-star hotel with 49 rooms. The rooms are decorated in classical style. They offer modern amenities like air conditioning, refrigerators, safes, TVs, and Wi-Fi. The hotel also caters to guests with disabilities. Villa Tacchi stands in Villalta, now part of the municipality of Gazzo, which includes the towns of Grossa, Gaianigo, and Grantortino, in the province of Padua. The villa’s journey from a family estate to a luxurious hotel reflects the rich history of this region. It also highlights the enduring appeal of Italian architecture and hospitality.
