Imagine you are strolling along the Mangerstrasse in Potsdam. A stately building, with its elegant facade and a sloping mansard roof, catches your eye. This is Villa Kellermann, a historical gem that boasts a rich past and stands as a testament to the city’s evolution. This mansion, initially known as Villa von Hardt, was constructed in 1914 for the royal Prussian ceremonial master, Friedrich Wilhelm von Hardt. It was an architectural wonder for its time, featuring innovative amenities like a dedicated food elevator and a four-level entry elevator. Its grand presence on the shore of the Heiligen See, overlooking the water, has drawn attention throughout its existence. The villa has experienced a multitude of transformations. After World War II, the Kulturbund, a cultural organization, took over the villa and renamed it after the famous German novelist, Bernhard Kellermann. The villa served as a cultural center, hosting various artistic events, including many legendary carnival celebrations. The building has seen numerous ownership changes, including periods as a restaurant, a casino, and finally, a luxury residence. In 2019, under the ownership of the Jauch family, it was brought back to its culinary glory; a fine dining experience awaited guests in its luxurious setting.
