Marvelous isn’t it? This is Villa Caccia Dominioni. Right here in the heart of Milan. This stunning building is more than just a residence. It’s a testament to post-war architectural innovation. A masterpiece of modern design nestled within a historic cityscape.

Luigi Caccia Dominioni designed Villa Caccia Dominioni for his own family. He built it between 1947 and 1949. The original building was severely damaged during World War II bombings. Initially preservation of the neoclassical facade was mandated. However the extent of the damage led to approval for new construction. The architect still paid close attention to its surroundings in the historic piazza.

Notice the facade. Four floors plus a ground floor. Elegant loggias grace the first and fourth floors. They cast beautiful patterns of light and shadow. The facade is a blend of materials. Terra di Siena plaster meets stone cladding. The stone is particularly noticeable on the ground floor and corners. The main entrance is almost centrally located. It leads to an inner courtyard.

The side facing Via San Vittore is also notable. It features tall windows. They provide an abundance of natural light within the apartments. The building seamlessly combines the old and the new. The two circular staircases are a modern touch. Their centers house the elevators.

Villa Caccia Dominioni is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a symbol of resilience. It shows how architectural genius can transform destruction into beauty. It even houses the architect’s archive. A treasure trove for architecture enthusiasts. It’s a harmonious blend of modern elegance and historical context. A true gem of Milan. A perfect example of how architecture can integrate seamlessly into a historic setting.
