What began as two is now one. This is Vila Boa de Quires e Maureles. It is a Portuguese civil parish. Vila Boa de Quires e Maureles lies in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses.

In 2013 Vila Boa de Quires e Maureles was created. This happened through the joining of Maureles and Vila Boa de Quires. The seat is in the old parish of Vila Boa de Quires.

Vila Boa de Quires e Maureles covers 19.33 square kilometers. In 2021 its population was 3460. The population density is 179 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The parish is home to the Igreja de Santo Andr. The demonyms are Vilabonense and Maurelense.

A notable structure here is a manor house. It is almost entirely the main facade. It is unfinished and in ruins. Despite this, the house has many decorative details. These details give it an imposing presence.

The house has five sections of wall. Pilasters separate them. The central section is slightly more forward. The first lateral section has a straight gate on the first floor. It is flanked by inverted volutes. A broken pediment tops it. The next section has two curved gates. They alternate with beveled corner windows. All are topped by a curved pediment.

The central section features a curved gate. It stands between pilasters. A broken pediment and rich sculptural decoration mark it. All second-floor windows were balconies. They featured decorated curved pediments. The two in the central body had a cartouche in the middle.

The house is in the Pombal area. It is near the Vila Boa House. The house is isolated in a rural setting. It is on a mid-slope at the edge of a eucalyptus clearing. It overlooks the Vila Boa de Quires road. It stands out in the surroundings.

Construction began around 1740. Antnio de Vasconcelos de Carvalho e Menezes funded it. In 1756 the Spanish architect died. He lived in Portugal. People often attribute the work to him.

The building has a quadrangular plan. There is a cloister in the center. The facade was topped by turrets. It was sixty meters long. Some details recall Nasoni’s style. Some call it the Porto Carreiro House. Others call it the House of Works.

In 1994 workers cleaned vegetation from the facade.

Today the house serves as a cultural landmark. It is a private property owned by an individual. It stands as a silent testament to time.
