The history of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations goes back to May 18 1963. On this day the First National Congress of the Vietnam Association for Science and Technology Popularization convened. In 2013 May 18 was selected as Vietnam’s National Science and Technology Day. The association responded to the need to advance science and technology. This was vital for the reconstruction and development of Vietnam. The First National Congress of VUSTA was held on March 26 1983. At that time there were 14 national scientific and technological associations. There was also one provincial branch. Since then VUSTA has grown significantly. Its impact on Vietnam’s social and economic development has increased.
