Ever wonder how a simple property can transform into a vibrant hub? Vibo Place is more than just a commercial center. It embodies a family’s vision and Cebu’s dynamic spirit.

In the 1970s Benjamin and Flora Borromeo bought this land. It was an underutilized property on Escario Street. They established a commercial complex but it took years to rebrand it into Vibo Place. The Borromeo family’s grandsons played a key role in this transformation. They took over various business functions.

The place was formerly known as the Cebu Capitol Commercial Complex. The family wisely held onto the property. They saw Escario’s potential as a bustling commercial district.

“Vibo” is a portmanteau of Villacarlos. This was their grandmother’s maiden name. Borromeo also means “glee” in the local dialect.

Vibo Place spans 2.2 hectares. It houses the Axis Entertainment Avenue. This is a six-building lifestyle cluster. You will also find the Cebu Grand Hotel here. The Apartelle and CAIAA Center are also part of the complex. All these are owned by the Borromeo family.

Back in the 1980s this area was known for the Gardenia Restaurant and Ballroom. In the early 2000s Red Tomato was a popular spot here. Airline ticket offices and corporate workplaces also called this place home.

The Cebu Capitol Commercial Complex Corp has grown into the Vibo Group of Companies. They are involved in real estate community development and condominium projects. They also manage hotels. Soon a shared office space will open here.

The Borromeo family carefully plans the development of Vibo Place. They aim to create a thriving community for customers tenants and guests. Vibo Place’s central location is unparalleled. It connects the central business district with Banawa Guadalupe and Labangon areas. This gives tenants maximum exposure on N Escario Street.

The Vibo Group wants to create communities for its customers. Short-term plans include a shared office facility and an expansion for Axis Entertainment Avenue. Vertical residential developments are planned for the long term. These are expected to launch in the next few years.

Today Vibo Place offers diverse experiences. The Cebu Grand Hotel is an iconic seven-floor hotel. It features function rooms and a rooftop pool with city views. Axis Entertainment Avenue has lush greenery and open-air spaces. It is a refreshing escape from the city.

Don’t miss the Cebu Farmers Market every Saturday. It’s located behind Burger King. Here you can find fresh produce. You can grab a bite at Starbucks or Burger King. You can also enjoy local favorites. Vibo Place truly has something for everyone.
