Twelve bird enthusiasts a passionate group founded the Verein der Vogelfreunde 1963 Bammental e V on January 12 1963. Their meeting place The Gasthaus Zum Elsenztal. Their initial aim To cherish and nurture the local avian world. Edmund Beckenbach became their first chairman. Fritz Stadler his deputy. H Ebel the secretary. Dieter Probst the treasurer. G Stoll and H Sohns served as advisors.
The Verein der Vogelfreunde 1963 Bammental e V wasn’t always known by that name. Initially the Verein der Vogelfreunde Bammental-Wiesenbach. A name change occurred on January 31 1965. Then finally on January 17 1981 the official registration as Verein der Vogelfreunde 1963 Bammental e V. This marked a significant milestone in its history.
Their 50th anniversary celebration in 2013 was a joyous occasion. Held at their Vereinslokal Vogelheim it was a small gathering of 47 guests. The then chairman Friedrich Fuchs delivered a welcome speech. Mayor Karl also spoke. So did Hubert Friedrich from the Badenische Landesverband der Kanarien- u Vogelzuchter BKV. Even the founding member Edmund Beckenbach attended alongside honorary member Erwin Bauer.
Friedrich Fuchs shared a fascinating tidbit during the anniversary. The classic Hitchcock film The Birds also premiered in 1963. A lovely coincidence for the Verein der Vogelfreunde 1963 Bammental e V. Many breeders could proudly recall their achievements over the years. From club championships to national and even international wins. The Verein der Vogelfreunde 1963 Bammental e V has many trophies to show for their hard work.
The annual highlight is their bird exhibition at the Vogelheim in Bammental. The planned Baden state championship in December 2014 was a huge undertaking. Securing a suitable venue in Bammental proved challenging. Thanks to Mayor Karl’s support and the understanding of other clubs using the hall it became a reality. A true testament to collaboration. This event marked the 50th anniversary celebrations. The club exhibition happened alongside the 2014 Baden championship.
Their October 2013 exhibition promised to be particularly special. The Vogelheim team prepared a delicious buffet. Following the meal awards were presented for 10 20 25 30 and more years of membership and service. A commemorative certificate and a club mug was given. Hubert Friedrich presented an honorary certificate from the association. It received a place of honor on the Vereinsheim wall.
The evening transitioned into informal conversations. Gentle music played in the background. Those who hadn’t received a club mug earlier got one to take home as a memento. The Verein der Vogelfreunde 1963 Bammental e V expressed gratitude for the successful evening. They look forward to many more years of shared passion.
