“Desire is the father of all misery.” These words by Swami Vivekananda greet us here. Welcome to the Vedanta Centre of Brisbane. This is a place for both your liberation and the world’s welfare.
The Vedanta Centre is a chapter of the Vedanta Centre of Sydney. The Sydney center started in 1990. It became affiliated with the Ramakrishna Math in 2000.
Here at the Vedanta Centre of Brisbane, you will find a vibrant community. They engage in diverse activities. International Yoga Day is observed here. Harmony Day is also celebrated. The Vedanta Centre offers counselling sessions. Yoga and Hindi language classes are available. Other classes and special online lectures take place too.
Imagine the aroma of spices and the sound of laughter during community fairs. The Vedanta Centre holds fairs with various stalls. These fairs attract the wider public to the ashrama.
Think about those in need receiving support. The Vedanta Centre operates a food bank. It provides free food and groceries. A cafeteria offers low-cost meals weekly.
Consider how justice is made accessible. A legal aid cell operates here. The Vedanta Centre also fosters interfaith meetings.
Daily worship fills the air. There is chanting and evening arati. Scriptural classes deepen understanding. The birthdays of the Holy Trio are celebrated with devotion. Major religious festivals are observed as well.
The Vedanta Centre of Brisbane is located at 96 Vedanta Drive, Springfield Lakes. It stands next to 2 Poppy Crescent. Feel free to contact them at +61 7 3818 9986. You can also email them at info@vedantabrisbane.org. Their website is vedantabrisbane.org.
Vedanta groups are functional in other cities too. These include Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, and Perth. All are under the guidance of the Sydney Centre Swamis. As devotees in these cities grow, their activities will expand. The Sydney Centre will then guide the formation of full-fledged Vedanta Centres in those locations.
Remember Swami Vivekananda’s words. True happiness comes from selfless service. As you leave the Vedanta Centre of Brisbane, carry this wisdom with you. May your actions be for your liberation. May they also benefit the world.
