In 2013, Veade, Gagos, and Molares embarked on a shared destiny. These three distinct communities merged to form the União das Freguesias de Veade, Gagos e Molares. Veade, Gagos e Molares spans almost 13 square kilometers. The most recent census in 2021 counted 1,712 residents calling Veade, Gagos e Molares home. This union created a combined population larger than any of the individual villages had historically. Before the merger, Gagos boasted a population of 628 in 2011. Veade had 714 residents in the same year. Now, as a unified entity, Veade, Gagos e Molares represents a blend of traditions and histories. The administrative seat resides in Veade. This decision, while practical, also symbolizes the ongoing evolution of this unique area within Celorico de Basto.
