Have you ever heard of a church starting in a youth hall? Right here, before the Valley Korean Community Church, stands a testament to faith and perseverance. The Valley Korean Community Church wasn’t always this impressive structure. Its story began in the fall of 1980. Pastor Jo Jung-wan, stationed at the Faith for Today School of Evangelism in Newbury Park, felt a calling. He saw the burgeoning population of the San Fernando Valley and wanted to bring them the gospel. His first step was connecting with Adventist believers. He encouraged them to hold youth meetings at the Northridge church youth hall. This simple act sparked a flame. By 1984, four groups, including one called “Valley,” gained approval from the Southern California Conference. They formally established the Valley Korean Community Church. For years, the church didn’t have a permanent home. They held services in various rented spaces across the San Fernando Valley. Imagine the challenges and the unwavering faith it took to keep the community together. Their dedication finally paid off in 2013. The Valley Korean Community Church acquired this building in Granada Hills. Remarkably, just a year later, they managed to pay off all their debts. This building embodies more than just bricks and mortar. It represents decades of dedication, perseverance, and a shared dream. In 2024, the Valley Korean Community Church celebrated its 40th anniversary. It was a testament to the power of community and faith.
