This wasn’t just a random project. Hamburger businessman Andreas Maske commissioned it. He wanted to honor Seeler’s incredible career. Seeler played 239 Bundesliga games scoring 137 goals. He also played 72 games for the German national team. He scored 43 goals for his country. He was a German champion in 1960. He even won the German Cup in 1963. He was part of four World Cup teams. In 1966 he was even a World Cup runner-up. Three times he was named Footballer of the Year.

Maske calls this area the “Walk of Fame”. A metal plate in the ground reads For people who leave their mark. The Walk of Fame started in 2006. It keeps growing.
