In 2014, a new giant graced the Brussels skyline: the UP-site. This isn’t just another building. It’s the tallest residential building in all of Belgium, a 42-story titan reaching 142 meters into the sky. Imagine the view from up there! UP-site stands proudly in the Quartier Nord, a testament to modern architecture. It’s a mixed-use complex, not just apartments. Within its sleek glass and steel frame, you’ll also find offices, parking, shops, and even restaurants. It’s a vertical city within a city. The construction of UP-site began in 2010. It took four years to complete this architectural marvel, designed by the architectural firms A2RC Architects sa and Ateliers Lion Architectes Urbanistes. The smaller surrounding buildings were finished and occupied first, while the main tower, the jewel in the UP-site crown, wasn’t completed until the summer of 2014. The builders used innovative techniques like the ATR self-climbing system for the core and an HWS Hydraulic Windshield System for safety. This allowed for a rapid construction cycle of just seven days per floor. UP-site has reshaped the Brussels skyline and offers a unique living experience, high above the bustling streets below.
