What was once a vision for a booming Omani economy is now a reality right before your eyes. The University of Technology and Applied Sciences stands as a testament to the progressive spirit of Oman. Founded in 1984 as Oman Technical Industrial College, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences was the nation’s first foray into higher education. The university, fondly known as UTAS, was the brainchild of the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. His vision was to nurture a generation equipped to propel Oman’s growth. Initially, a modest institution with a few hundred students, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences has blossomed into a beacon of knowledge. Today, it boasts a vibrant community of over 14,000 students! It has also expanded its reach beyond Muscat, with 11 branches spread across 9 governorates of Oman. The university offers over 25 specializations. These are spread across diverse fields, including Engineering, Information Technology, Applied Sciences, Business Studies and even creative disciplines such as Photography and Fashion Design. This makes the University of Technology and Applied Sciences a hub of innovation and a true reflection of Oman’s commitment to a brighter future.
