This marked a pivotal moment in the university’s growth. The university’s enrollment soared to 1369 students.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn continued its growth throughout the following decades. New buildings such as the Fieldhouse and ice arena opened in 1978. The Science Learning Center and the Edward and Helen Mardigian Library further enhanced the campus. The university’s commitment to research and innovation accelerated.
