Established in June 1946 the University of Health Sciences UHS has a rich history. Initially the School for Medical Officers it evolved. It became the Cambodian Royal School for Medicine in 1953. Later it was renamed the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1962. The Faculty of Pharmacy moved to Phnom Penh University in 1967.

Tragically the University of Health Sciences faced devastation during the Pol Pot regime. It was abandoned and severely damaged. Yet it persevered. In January 1980 it reopened. It combined the Faculties of Medicine Pharmacy and Dentistry. Finally in 1997 it officially became the University of Health Sciences.

The University of Health Sciences is much more than a place of learning. It’s a symbol of resilience. It shows Cambodia’s commitment to healthcare. It trains thousands of students each year. These students become doctors dentists nurses and other healthcare professionals. They serve the people of Cambodia.

The University of Health Sciences offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. These include Bachelor of Medical Sciences BMedSc. There is also Bachelor of Pharmacy BPharm. A Bachelor of Dental Sciences BDentSc is also available. Many students pursue postgraduate studies. They earn Master’s and Doctorate degrees in various health sciences.

The University of Health Sciences boasts a remarkable growth story. In 2001 it became a public administrative institution. It comprises several faculties. It also has a Technical School for Medical Care. The school trains nurses midwives and other paramedical professionals.
