Imagine Dubai without a top-tier private university. That almost happened. The University of Dubai stands as a testament to Dubai’s commitment to education.

Established in 1997, the University of Dubai is more than just a place of learning. It’s a key part of Dubai’s vision for the future. It is licensed nationally by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been a constant supporter. The DCCI has aided the University of Dubai at every stage. This includes helping it achieve international academic accreditations.

In 2006, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum gifted the University of Dubai a large plot of land. It was for a new state-of-the-art campus in Academic City. He personally chose the campus design. This underscored his dedication to the university’s mission.

The DCCI contributed 200 million dirhams to construct the new campus. In December 2015, the University of Dubai moved all operations to Academic City. The previous site was on Maktoum Street. This marked a new chapter for the university.

The University of Dubai was the first private university in Dubai to gain AACSB international accreditation in 2009. It maintained this accreditation for many years. It was also the first private university in the UAE to hold ABET-CAC accreditation. This was for its Computing and Information Systems program.

The University of Dubai’s curriculum aligns with international professional certification bodies. It also aligns with government initiatives. These include Islamic Economy, Smart City, and Innovation. The university partners with IBM.

So, as you stand here, remember that the University of Dubai is not just a university. It is a symbol of Dubai’s ambition. It represents the city’s dedication to progress and education. It will mold the minds of future leaders.
