Eager to become climate protectors? That’s the invitation that the Energie-Bildungszentrum um:welt extends to each visitor. The um:welt, opened in 2021, is more than just a building. It’s Bavaria’s first energy education center. It is a place where you can dive into the world of climate and energy.
The Energie-Bildungszentrum um:welt is located in Regensburg. Here in the um:welt, climate protection becomes an experience. This interactive exhibition spans 600 square meters. It is designed to explain the connections between climate, energy use, and our own behavior.
The um:welt is a project of the Energieagentur Regensburg. It is a collaborative effort with the city and district of Regensburg. The district of Kelheim is also a partner. The Energieagentur Regensburg is an independent point of contact for energy and climate protection. The goal is to promote a climate-friendly future. The um:welt expands the agency’s range of services.
Inside the Energie-Bildungszentrum um:welt, six different experience rooms await. Visitors explore how Earth’s climate and energy systems work. They also discover the impact of personal choices. It is for all ages.
The um:welt believes we are all astronauts. Our spaceship is the Earth. There are no passengers only crew members. The exhibition motivates visitors to take action. The um:welt offers practical tips and contacts. These resources help people create personal climate action plans.
The Energie-Bildungszentrum um:welt focuses on several key areas. These include energy, science communication, and pedagogy. It also emphasizes the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs and Inner Development Goals IDGs.

It actively contributes to achieving the Agenda 2030 goals. The SDGs 7, 9, 11, 12, and 13 are particularly emphasized.
The Energie-Bildungszentrum um:welt sees the sun as a key to the future. It promotes learning how to harness the sun’s energy. Regular events cover topics from food and consumption to housing and mobility.
The Energie-Bildungszentrum um:welt is located in the RUBINA building. RUBINA is a flagship project for energy and environmental education in Regensburg. The um:welt has also been recognized as a “Gestalter im Team Energiewende Bayern” since March 15, 2023. This award acknowledges the Energie-Bildungszentrum um:welt’s contributions to shaping Bavaria’s energy future.
