Curious about where Malaysia’s second private university stands? UCSI University is right here. Founded in 1986, UCSI University began as a computer-training institute. Dato’ Peter Ng envisioned a place of learning and growth.

UCSI University quickly expanded. It moved to Kuala Lumpur to accommodate more students. More academic programs were introduced. In 1990, the Ministry of Education recognized it as Sedaya College. Later, it became Sedaya International College. By 2003, it achieved university college status and was renamed University College Sedaya International. Finally, in 2008, UCSI achieved full university status.

UCSI University now operates across multiple campuses. There’s the Kuala Lumpur Campus, the Sarawak Campus, and the Springhill Campus. A branch campus has been added in Bangladesh. UCSI College complements the university’s offerings. Many still fondly refer to UCSI University as Sedaya.

UCSI University offers diverse academic programs. These include business, engineering, architecture, medicine, and pharmacy. Nursing, tourism, applied science, music, and social science programs are also available. These programs are available at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

UCSI University is accredited by several reputable bodies. The Malaysian Qualifications Agency MQA and the Malaysian Medical Council MMC are among them. The Malaysian Nursing Board MNB also recognizes UCSI.

UCSI University emphasizes graduate employability. The Malaysian Higher Education Ministry’s survey gave its programs a 100% employability score for 2021-2022. This makes UCSI graduates highly sought after in the job market.

UCSI University aligns with Malaysia’s Rukun Negara principles. Its founding pillar is “Glory to God”. It aligns these principles with the UN Global Goals theme “Leave No One Behind”. This fits with its core value of “Compassion”. Compassion is represented by the letter “C” in UCSI. The university commits to these principles through its staff and students. This commitment aligns with UCSI Group’s sustainability theme “Together we shape the future”.
