The tower stands proudly as part of Freiberg’s medieval fortifications. These fortifications weren’t just for show. Freiberg, once the richest city in Saxony, needed robust defenses. The city gates were demolished in the 19th century, but substantial portions of the wall, including the Turm des Pestpfarrers, still stand defiant. The Turm des Pestpfarrers is nestled between the Altschlossturm and the Oberer Roßmühlenturm. Together they paint a vivid picture of a city prepared.
