The Frankfurt am Main location serves as the administrative center for the entire region.

The Tuerkisch-Islamische Union’s history is interwoven with the story of Turkish immigration to Germany. Many of its member mosques have roots stretching back to the 1970s. The growing need for religious social and charitable services led to the formation of the regional branch. This provided a central point of coordination and support for the growing community. The Tuerkisch-Islamische Union also answered societal demands for an organized Muslim representative to interact with the state at the regional level.

This was linked to its collaboration with the Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs Diyanet. Despite the program’s success some questioned the level of independence. This prompted a review of the partnership and its eventual dissolution.

Today the Tuerkisch-Islamische Union continues its multifaceted work. It offers religious guidance social services and community outreach.
