Tum Nup Tek Evangelical Church C&MA is a relatively young church, part of the larger Khmer Evangelical Church (KEC), which itself was reborn in 1993. Imagine Cambodia in the 1970s. A revival sweeps through Phnom Penh, sparked by Stanley Mooneyham’s crusade. Churches multiply, offering refuge from the encroaching shadow of the Khmer Rouge. But then, darkness descends. The Khmer Rouge regime nearly obliterates the Christian community in Cambodia, leaving only a scattered remnant. The KEC emerged from this devastation, a phoenix from the ashes, with a mere 15 churches. Tum Nup Tek Evangelical Church C&MA is part of this resurgence. It stands as a beacon of hope, a symbol of the unwavering spirit of Cambodian Christians. Today, the KEC has grown to include approximately 200 churches, a staggering increase considering its near destruction just decades ago. While the overall percentage of Protestants in Cambodia remains small, under 1%, the growth within the KEC offers a glimpse into the power of faith to endure even the most unimaginable horrors.
