Tujunga United Methodist Church

Hidden in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains lies Tujunga United Methodist Church. It has a story waiting to be discovered. This church wasn’t always the grand structure you see today. Tujunga United Methodist Church began humbly in 1914. A small group of believers saw a need for a “Jesus-centered community” in Little Lands, now known as Tujunga. They started the church in this then-small village. Over the years, the church grew alongside the community. It became a pillar of Tujunga. Tujunga United Methodist Church provided a space for worship and fellowship. The church also served the community practically. In 1981, they established the Bailey Center. This outreach program provides food and other necessities to those in need. Today, the Bailey Center distributes food to over 300 families each week. Tujunga United Methodist Church continues to adapt to the changing times. They are in a season of transformation, seeking to better serve Sunland-Tujunga. They offer Sunday services at 9am, filled with inspiring messages and uplifting music. The church welcomes everyone, regardless of attire, from suits and ties to tank tops and flip-flops. The congregation, while mostly older, welcomes younger members with open arms, hoping to see the church evolve and thrive under new leadership. Tujunga United Methodist Church isn’t just a building. It is a living testament to the enduring power of faith and community service.
