“Tsunami Memorial Park” – a name that carries a heavy heart. Step into this architectural sanctuary, a place designed to remember the devastating tsunami that struck Thailand on December 26th, 2004. This park exists as a testament to the power of nature and as a beacon of hope for the future. We are standing amidst a network of long concrete walls that wind through the forest. They create a series of courtyards leading to an open space, a contemplation area overlooking the sea. The walls are designed to guide visitors through the park, providing a sense of calm and reflection. As you walk along the pathways, the names of those lost in the disaster are etched into the walls. The walls themselves are oriented towards the south-southwest, the direction from which the tsunami struck. The memorial wall faces the sea, reminding visitors of the powerful force it unleashed.
