The story of this campus begins in September 1998. The Prime Minister allocated land to build Van Lang University. This land was in Ward 5 Go Vap District. The area was 5.2 hectares significantly larger than Campus 2.
From 1999 to 2014 the university worked to clear the land. They faced challenges in compensation but ultimately succeeded. This new campus aimed to meet high standards for learning facilities. The Go Vap project became an important achievement for Van Lang University.
By adding the Go Vap campus Van Lang increased its training area. It grew to 66600 square meters creating better conditions for students. This allowed the university to train its students at the intended size.
Several facilities were constructed on the site. These included a Memorial Garden a 12-story school building and the L-V administration building. There was also a runway an executive building and a temporary bridge over the Lang Canal.
