Its roots trace back to October 5, 1962, when it was founded as the Board of Technical Education. The institution underwent several name changes, reflecting its growth and mergers with other schools. It evolved from the Nguyen Truong To Center for Technical Education to Thu Duc College of Education, and finally, in 1976, it became Thu Duc University of Technical Education. More changes came. In 1984, it merged with Thu Duc Industrial Vocational School. In 1991, it absorbed Technical Teacher Training School No. 5. This led to its current name, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. Trương Đại học Sư phạm Kỹ thuật TP.HCM – Cơ sở 2 is one of two campuses. Together, they boast a sprawling 21 hectares. The campus features 98 workshops, 58 laboratories, and 175 classrooms. The facilities are modern and well-equipped. They provide students with a conducive learning environment. Over its 60-year history, HCMUTE has received numerous awards for its excellence. These include Independence Decorations and Labor Decorations, as well as Emulation Flags from various governmental bodies.
