True Vine Baptist Church

Founded in 1944 True Vine Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith and community. It began humbly in the home of Brother Eugene and Sister Esther Adams. Brother Neil Wyatt Brother Jaeul Brady Brother Sam Phillip Sister Viney Phillips and Victoria Reed joined them. They sought Reverend W L Humphrey as their leader. Services started in Brother Wyatt’s home on Locust Street. They later moved to tents on Arcadian Street and Lynchburg Road. Two parcels of land were purchased on Oak Street and Locust Street. Mr Tibbet donated lumber for the first building. Reverend Humphrey assembled the first board of officers. He served until his death in 1967. Many pastors followed. Reverend Willie W Washington served for years. He and his deacons built the fellowship hall. The current edifice was dedicated in 2003. This reflects Pastor M Keith Cooksey’s vision. Pastor Christopher Sean Carter Sr’s 2020 theme was Purpose. He had many visions for True Vine. One was Vision to Victory based on 1 Corinthians 15:57. Today True Vine is a large church in San Antonio. It’s a family worship center for all ages ethnicities and backgrounds. Services minister to individuals families and the community. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is shared. This is through Bible-based worship and praise engaging Sunday School Bible study and fellowship. True Vine aims to save the lost and disciple the saved. It leads people to Jesus and church membership. It develops members toward Christ-like maturity. It equips them for ministry in the church and their life mission. The church’s purpose is to magnify God’s holy name. At True Vine hugs are contagious. You are always welcome. Dress ranges from casual to professional. The church currently has a 1300 seat sanctuary. There’s also a choir rehearsal room nursery counseling center and administrative space. This impressive facility stands as a symbol of the congregation’s growth and unwavering faith. True Vine Baptist Church continues its mission to serve its community. It remains a beacon of hope and spiritual guidance.
