How about a church where the love of God is truly in the house? That’s True Love Evangelistic Ministries. Founded in October 2001 by Pastor Clara Brown-Draughn, True Love Christian Ministries started in a small hotel. Pastor Clara asked her family to step out of the boat with her according to Matthew 14:28-29. Her family agreed and supported her vision.
Bishop Clara Brown-Draughn, as she became known, wanted to bring families back together in the holiness of God. Her dedication and love drew many to Christ. Lives transformed through this mighty woman of God. Bishop Clara stood firm in her faith. She knew that through Christ all things are possible. Her motto was, “If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain”.
For 22 years True Love Christian Ministries has remained open. It has been a constant, faithful light in the Detroit community. In this next season, True Love Christian Ministries will continue to run with the vision. Pastor Chris has made the vision plain to the church.
Pastor Christopher Brown, ordained in 2010, served under Bishop Clara. In 2016, she elevated him to the office of Elder and recognized him as Pastor Chris. Upon Bishop Clara’s passing on December 11, 2018, Pastor Chris accepted the mantle.
True Love Christian Ministries offers various services. Sunday School starts at 10 a.m. Worship service follows at 11 a.m. There’s also a ministry class held via Zoom at 7 p.m.
True Love Christian Ministries also hosts a food pantry on the third Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m., delivery truck willing. They also encourage prayers for the American government and peace in Jerusalem. These prayers can be found in the book “The Prayers That Availeth Much”.
