Trinity Memorial Missionary Baptist Church’s story began in August 1924. Fifteen individuals envisioned what they could accomplish for the Lord in the Fenkell-Livernois district. They gathered in a mission hall on Oakland Avenue with a charter membership of 49.
Initially, the church was named Olivet Baptist Church. To avoid confusion with another Baptist church, it was renamed Trinity. The church first held services in a store room at Fenkell and Parkside. Later, they met over the Fenkell Theatre. In December 1927, Trinity Memorial Missionary Baptist Church moved to its current location. An addition was built onto the auditorium in 1935.
Trinity’s commitment to inclusivity began in 1964. The church started its inter-racial ministry. Leaders like Frank Camper and Hollis M. Evans helped to create an incredible spiritual development for the youth.
Trinity Memorial Missionary Baptist Church cherishes the memory of Rev. Dr. Lyle M. Adams. He served as pastor for 26 years. His strong faith inspired many. The former Trinity Baptist Church Indiana location is now “The Dr. Lyle M. Adams Activity Building”.

Pastor Hollis M. Evans served as Senior Pastor for 36 years. In 2018, he became Pastor Emeritus. Pastor Maurice A. Flaniken served as Interim Pastor starting in April 2017. He was elected as the current Pastor in January 2018.
