Picture this a small single-story house in Bangsar Kuala Lumpur. This was the humble beginning of Trinity Community Centre TCC. Thirty people mostly hearing impaired formed its first congregation. They worshipped in this small house many years ago.

The Trinity Community Centre TCC wasn’t always the impressive building we see today. Its story is one of remarkable growth and faith. From its tiny beginnings in Bangsar it moved to a double-story bungalow in Jalan Maarof. This was in 1984. However this too proved too small.

The congregation faced a challenge. The tenancy of the bungalow was expiring. The building was for sale. TCC needed to vacate. But through prayer and unwavering faith they decided to buy the bungalow. The asking price was RM370,000. This was a significant sum for a small congregation. Most were students or low-income earners.

They managed to secure a bank loan. But still a large balance remained. They needed RM208,068. They raised this incredible amount within six months. This was despite the challenges. The story goes that on one Sunday when attendance was low and the deadline was near a miracle happened. They needed RM56,000. Otherwise they would lose their deposit. The offering miraculously reached RM56,068. This allowed them to purchase the building.

TCC obtained government approval to convert the residential building into a community centre. Extensive renovations were undertaken. Years later as the congregation continued to grow they moved to a rented space in a Petaling Jaya office complex. They sold the Jalan Maarof bungalow and purchased land in Section 51 Petaling Jaya. This was in 2005.

More renovations were needed for the new building. This was a costly undertaking. At the start of the renovations in March 2007 they were short of funds. They had RM1.7 million but needed RM6 million. But through divine help donations poured in. They completed the renovations. The final cost was a staggering RM12 million. It was as if God said By the way Collin do you know the building you thought was RM6 million actually cost you RM12 million.

Today Trinity Community Centre stands as a testament to faith perseverance and a miracle-working God. The building officially opened on January 31 2009. This remarkable building stands as a beacon of faith and community in Petaling Jaya. It serves a diverse community with services in English Chinese Tamil and for the hearing impaired. The story of Trinity Community Centre is one of continuous growth and God’s unwavering support.
