The congregation moved into the new building in 1850.
Trinity Church is architecturally stunning a beautiful example of Greek Revival style. This design is similar to Wesley Chapel in London. The church faced many challenges throughout its history. In 1876 Pastor E H Myers died from yellow fever during a citywide epidemic. A Sunday school building was added in 1895 paid for by Robert McIntire. This building was replaced in 1927 with a modern four-story structure. The sanctuary was renovated in 1967. It was restored to its original 1848 design. A devastating fire in 1991 destroyed the educational building. It took two years to rebuild. In 2005 the church’s exterior was restored earning an Award of Excellence from the Historic Savannah Foundation.
Trinity Church played a vital role in Savannah’s history. It founded several other churches.
