Three ears of wheat. Each gleams gold. Tribiano’s story is woven into these symbols on its coat of arms. We are in Tribiano now. This comune in Lombardy is about 20 kilometres southeast of Milan. Imagine stepping back in time.

Tribiano’s roots trace back to Roman times. It was then a small agricultural village. The Romans called it Trebianus. The Via Regina once crossed through here. This important Roman road connected Cremona with Milan.

Later, Tribiano became part of the Lodi area and its diocese. During the Napoleonic era in 1809, Paullo became a hamlet of Tribiano. After the Second Italian War of Independence in 1859, Tribiano was assigned to the province of Milan. When the province of Lodi was formed in 1992, Tribiano chose to remain in Milan.

Many citizens of Tribiano fought in World War I and World War II. A monument in Papa Giovanni Paolo II square honors them. Tribiano has a rich history that is worth to be mentioned.

The territory of Tribiano is arranged along the main traffic routes southeast of Milan. It covers an area of 7.0 square kilometres. The landscape is typical of the Po Valley. Fields are surrounded by canals and ditches. Avenues are lined with poplars, plane trees, and willows.

Tribiano runs along the Addetta canal. This branch of the Muzza Canal divides the town.

Tribiano includes the hamlets of Lanzano, Zoate, and San Barbaziano. Lanzano is famous for its small church. It is dedicated to Saints Gervasio and Protasio. Zoate became a county in 1668. There is a golf course and the Vortice company in Zoate. San Barbaziano was a fief of the counts Melzi and the Alari. The parish church is dedicated to Saint Barbatianus.

Tribiano had a population of 2512 in 2004. According to a recent survey, 3623 people lived here in 2021. The population has grown significantly since 1861. Many people moved to Tribiano in the 2000s.

The patron saints of Tribiano are Saints Vito, Modesto, and Crescenzia. Their feast day is celebrated on June 15.

Originally an agricultural town, around the 1960s seventy factories and industries were installed here.

The banner of Tribiano is divided into two colored parts. The left side is yellow. The opposite side is blue. The coat of arms is in the center. It is adorned with branches and leaves.

Tribiano decided not to join the province of Lodi. It remained in the province of Milan. This decision reflects its unique history.

Remember the three ears of wheat. They symbolize Tribiano’s agricultural past and golden future. They are surmounted by three stars that maybe tell the future. The word “Trebianum” reminds us of its Roman origins. Tribiano is a town with a rich past and a vibrant present.
