In the 12th century, Tressin was a fief. It was held by the court of Termonde in the County of Alost. By the 13th and 14th centuries, the Montreul family became lords of Tressin. Antoine Castelain was lord of Quesne in Tressin. He was born in 1660. He was the son of Jean, a merchant from Lille, and Marie Heughe.

Tressin’s arms are Azure semy de lys. They feature on an inescutcheon Or a lion sable armed and langued gules. In simpler terms, the arms are blue. They are scattered with golden lilies. A golden shield displays a black lion.

The Saint-Pierre Church was erected in 1874. It was designed by Charles Leroy. He was an architect from Lille. He was also responsible for the Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral.
