Tres Arbolitos

Why is Tres Arbolitos more than just a name? Because high on the slopes of El Misti, it represents hope, tradition, and a breathtaking view. Now, 20 to 30 trees create a shaded sanctuary at an elevation of about 11,000 feet. This spot isn’t just about the trees. Each year, a large parade of people makes a pilgrimage to Tres Arbolitos to pray, demonstrating its spiritual significance. The hike to Tres Arbolitos is a 5-7 hour round trip. Be warned, the initial part of the trail passes near Arequipa’s primary garbage dump. This is an unfortunate reality, but the stunning views that await make it worthwhile.
