Originally envisioned as “Roskilde East,” Trekroner’s destiny intertwined with Roskilde University in 1972. The university became the heart of this burgeoning district. The arrival of the railway station in 1988 cemented Trekroner’s connection to the wider world. This station, initially serving a nearby industrial area, was expanded to accommodate the influx of students and faculty. The school expanded to encompass grades 0-9, a testament to the community’s commitment to education. The opening of Trekroner Center in 2008 marked a significant milestone. Businesses flocked to the area, establishing offices and shops near the station. A SuperBrugsen, Fakta, clothing stores, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, and a cafe breathed new life into the district. Today, Trekroner is a thriving community of approximately 4,500 residents, a testament to the vision of those early planners.
