Opened in 2006 Travis High School stands proudly in Pecan Grove Texas. It’s Fort Bend ISD’s tenth high school and the largest in the district. This impressive campus wasn’t just built overnight. Its creation eased overcrowding at Austin and George Bush High Schools. Ninth and tenth graders were immediately zoned to Travis. Eleventh and twelfth graders transitioned gradually over several years.

Travis High School is more than just a building. It’s a vibrant community. It’s known for its remarkable racial diversity. This makes it one of the most diverse public high schools in Texas. The school colors are scarlet gray and white. The mascot is a tiger a fierce and proud symbol. It’s a symbol that reflects the spirit of the students and faculty.

But the story of Travis High School is filled with more than just colors and mascots. It’s a place where students learn and grow. It hosts two specialized academies: the Global Studies Academy and the International Business and Marketing Academy. These academies provide students with unique learning opportunities. They help prepare students for global careers.

Think about the students who have walked these halls. Many have gone on to impressive achievements. There’s Fuzzy Benas a gymnast on the US men’s national artistic gymnastics team. Hakeem Butler played wide receiver for the Iowa State Cyclones and the St Louis Battlehawks. The Harrison twins Aaron and Andrew both played basketball for the University of Kentucky and later in the NBA. Steven Sims Jr. played for the Houston Texans and the University of Kansas. Parker Washington played for the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Jacksonville Jaguars. These are just a few examples of the remarkable talent that has come from Travis High School.

Beyond its academic excellence Travis High School offers much more. The school’s student council is famous for a unique stress reliever. They bring in dogs before exams. This helps students relax and de-stress. It’s just one more thing that makes Travis High School special. Even during times of challenge like the COVID-19 pandemic the school community showed resilience. Students even organized petitions to address rising case numbers.

Travis High School is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a legacy of academic excellence diversity and community spirit. It’s a place where students are empowered to achieve their dreams. It’s a school with a bright future. A future built on the foundation of its rich history and vibrant present.
