Before you stands the Transfiguration of Our Lord Church a testament to faith and community.
This isn’t just any church. It’s a living story etched in stone and stained glass. A story that began long before this building stood tall. Five years before its official birth in 1961 the faithful gathered in Blessed Oliver Plunkett School. They were a burgeoning community in Cartierville and northern Saint-Laurent. They were a mission of St Rita’s Parish. They yearned for their own space their own sacred home.
Paul Emile Cardinal Leger Archbishop of Montreal answered their prayers. On November 30 1961 he canonically established the Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish. It was a momentous occasion. A dream realized. A community’s devotion solidified.
The journey wasn’t easy. The first Mass in this very church wasn’t held until October 10 1965. Think of it. Years of planning fundraising and construction. Years of Sunday masses held in a school. Years of baptisms in the pastor’s home. Years of unwavering faith.
Imagine the excitement the day Cardinal Leger blessed this very place. Imagine the joy the relief the gratitude. The Transfiguration of Our Lord Church wasn’t just built it was born of hope perseverance and an unyielding spirit. It’s more than bricks and mortar. It’s a legacy. It’s a beacon of faith standing strong for over fifty years a place where memories are made and faith is nurtured. A place where generations have celebrated life’s milestones and sought solace in times of need. This is the Transfiguration of Our Lord Church a vibrant heart of the community a testament to enduring faith.
