Imagine stepping back in time. The story of Trade Fair Moscow began long ago. It started with the Division of International and Foreign Exhibitions in the USSR. This division succeeded the Department of Foreign Exhibitions under the All-Union Chamber of Commerce of the USSR.

In 1959, Moscow’s Sokolniki Park hosted a groundbreaking event. It was the first national exhibition of US industrial products. Nikita Khrushchev and Richard Nixon inaugurated it. Soon after, exhibitions from Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Poland followed.

Trade Fair Moscow produced its first international trade show in 1964. It was called Stroidormash. This event showcased new road-building machinery and equipment. The National Committee for Construction co-organized it.

Over the next decades, Trade Fair Moscow expanded. It hosted events for diverse sectors of the Soviet economy. These sectors included chemicals, telecommunications, timber, and electrical engineering.

To accommodate the growing number of trade shows, a new pavilion was opened in 1977. It stood on the banks of the Moskva River. The first show held here was Derevoobrabotka. It focused on woodworking.

The name Expocentre was officially registered in 1977. The Agency for International and Foreign Exhibitions became the Expocentre Company.

Trade Fair Moscow has evolved over the years. In 1991, it transformed into a joint stock company. It continues to adapt to the changing needs of global commerce.

Trade Fair Moscow is also known as Expocentre Fairgrounds. It extends over 20,000 square meters. It features nine fully equipped exhibition pavilions. There are also halls for conventions, press conferences, and meetings.

Expocentre Moscow runs more than 100 events each year. These events attract over 30,000 exhibitors and companies.

Several significant trade fairs take place at Trade Fair Moscow. These include MITT for travels and tourism and Upakovka for packaging. CPM showcases Collection Premiere Moscow. Other fairs include Shoes from Italy and Agroprodmash for food processing equipment.

Trade Fair Moscow has faced challenges. In August 2023, a drone attack damaged one of its walls. Despite this, it remains resilient.

Trade Fair Moscow cooperates with Russian and international groups. These include the Russian Ministry of Energy and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
