Designed in the early 1800s by architect Luigi Canonica, the Torretta Viscontea wasn’t realized until 1822. Giacomo Tazzini, Canonica’s successor, brought the vision to life, creating a “mock castle” with the tower as its centerpiece. The Torretta Viscontea is a fascinating blend of styles. Using recycled materials, Tazzini crafted a structure that hints at medieval architecture while incorporating flourishes of 19th-century neo-Gothic design. This unique fusion is visible in the rectangular, two-story structure and the tower’s ornate details. At the top, a belvedere offers panoramic views.
