This imposing tower, built in the early 20th century, isn’t just a striking landmark. It’s a testament to the ingenuity of early 20th-century engineering. The Torre dell’Acquedotto was designed to hold a staggering 250 cubic meters of water within its reinforced concrete frame. Imagine the weight, the pressure! This innovative structure was a vital part of Crema’s first drinking water supply system. It served a population of 12,000 people, each using 150 liters of water per day. Sadly, the Torre dell’Acquedotto was decommissioned between 1996 and 1998. Now, it stands silent, a monument to a bygone era.
