Completed in January 2025, the Topyeong-gyo Bridge stands as a testament to modern engineering. This cable-stayed bridge connects Seoul and Guri, gracefully spanning the Han River. The Topyeong-gyo Bridge is part of the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway. It was designed to alleviate the notorious traffic congestion on the Seoul Ring Expressway and the older Gangdong Bridge. The Topyeong-gyo Bridge stretches an impressive 1,725 meters in total length. Its longest span reaches a remarkable 540 meters, a true feat of engineering. Interestingly, the bridge’s name, Topyeong-gyo, has been a subject of local debate. In 2024, the Guri City Council even considered renaming it following a public petition. However, the name Topyeong-gyo remains, marking its place in the evolving landscape of Seoul.
