Right before us stands the Toni-Lenz-Hütte, a mountain hut on the eastern side of the Untersberg, close to the legendary Schellenberger Ice Cave. The Toni-Lenz-Hütte was originally built under the auspices of the “Verein für Höhlenkunde Schellenberg” in 1936 and became a symbol of hospitality and adventure in the heart of the Bavarian Alps. Toni Lenz, known for his welcoming demeanor, managed the hut for many years and became renowned for his culinary delights, including his signature Kaiserschmarrn, savory pea soup, and herrings in butter, a dish he called Laussalbe. To honor his dedication, the hut was officially named the Toni-Lenz-Hütte in 1950. Today, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views from the sun-bathed terrace, gazing across the Salzach Valley towards the Salzkammergut mountains, the majestic Dachstein, and the Tennengebirge.
